It is with regret that we announce the resignation of Astrid Hansen, Principal of Chrysalis, due to personal circumstances.
We wish her every success in the future and thank her for all her hard work and help over the past year.
We have great pleasure in welcoming Elizabeth Dun to Chrysalis as Principal.
A BIG BIG thank you must go to Richard Nichols who recently presented the Chrysalis Staff and Governors with a wonderful donation.
We have great pleasure in announcing that the DfES has approvaed and granted the registration of Year 8 to Chrysalis.
DfES......
"I am pleased to advise you that the proposal to change the age range has been approved and the school will now be registered for pupils aged 4 to 13 years of age".
Our first Ofsted Inspection Report has now been published.
It was extremely positive and encouraging. We are all very proud and grateful to the Head, staff and voluntary staff for all their hard work and dedication in making the Chrysalis a fantastic success.

The Governors have reviewed the first year of the Chrysalis and various changes have been made. All of the following take place with effect from September 2006.
Term Dates
Chrysalis will now offer a 44 week year. This will enable all half terms to be one week. An additional day, in lieu of the summer bank holiday, will be taken as an INSET day.
School Hours
The school day will start at 9.30 am and end at 4 pm.
This decision was reached because of the distance pupils travel, their age and stamina. The pupils work very hard throughout the school day and will benefit from time at home when they are not too tired to generalise what they have learnt.
Fees
It is important that any person or body who are responsible for the payment of fees, recognise that acceptance of a place infers that the school policy of one term’s notice of pupil withdrawal or fees in lieu has been accepted.
Our fees will be £45,000 per pupil per annum for the 2006/07 academic year. Any additional therapies required by a child’s statement of special educational need are charged in addition at cost.
Over the current year the school has had to fundraise considerably in excess of the £10,000 per pupil that was originally envisaged. The increase does not represent any profit margin for the school, indeed additional fundraising will still be necessary.
The Governors regret that all three changes are necessary but conclude that it is better to adjust practice in the light of experience in one sitting rather than continue to make substantial changes each year. Chrysalis is now well established and preparing to receive additional pupils. As the school grows it will be in a position to enjoy greater economies of scale.
Our second Ofsted Inspection takes place during the last week of term, the week commencing 7th August. We have asked the DfES to extend our registration into Year 7 as part of that inspection as our two current Yr 5 pupils will need stability of provision over the coming years.
